For immediate release
Mississauga – Peel Children’s Centre (PCC), Rapport Youth & Family Services (Rapport) and Nexus Youth Services (NYS) are excited to announce two joint initiatives designed to improve and simplify services for youth and young adults in Peel Region.
Welcoming ECYLPSE to Central Mississauga
Effective April 1, 2020, the Nexus Youth Centre, historically operated by NYS and located within the Mississauga Central Library, will transfer to Rapport and become known as the ECLYPSE Youth Centre – Central Mississauga.
Since 1969, Rapport has been committed to serving youth and young adults in Peel Region. Rapport provides multimedia and arts programming, employment services, after school programs and volunteer opportunities for youth and young adults through nine locations in Peel, including two ECLYPSE Youth Centres in Brampton, and looks forward to building on the Nexus Youth Centre’s strong legacy of making a difference for young people in Mississauga.
“We are delighted to welcome the Nexus Youth Centre to our Rapport family as we expand our renowned youth drop-in services to Central Mississauga,” said David Clement, Rapport’s Executive Director. “Currently, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are focused on offering virtual supports to youth and young adults, and we look forward to resuming our drop-in programs and services when it is safe to do so.”
Simplifying Counselling Services for Youth and Young Adults
Also on April 1, 2020, PCC will assume responsibility for counselling services previously offered by Rapport and NYS. The joint decision to re-align services between the three agencies simplifies how youth and young adults in Peel Region receive counselling services.
“Since 1985, PCC has been committed to helping young people with mental health challenges,” said PCC and NYS CEO Humphrey Mitchell. “While our offices are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are using modern technology in new and innovative ways in order to continue delivering high quality mental health services to the youth and young adults who need our help.”
